Safe & Effective Pet Identification

Every year, thousands of cherished cats and dogs go missing, only to be found by strangers and brought to animal shelters. Without identification, many of these pets will never be reunited with their families.

Microchipping is a permanent form of identification for our four-legged friends. Unlike ID tags on collars, microchips can’t get lost, stolen, or damaged.

At Madeira Park Veterinary Hospital, we offer the HomeAgain microchip, a widely used product that helps increase your chances of recovering your lost dog or cat.

Don't let your furry friend be left without identification. Ask our team about microchipping for your furry family member.

How does microchipping work?

A microchip is a safe, simple form of identification that can significantly increase the chance of a reunion between you and your lost pet. Each chip has a unique number registered to a specific dog or cat.

Your pet's unique microchip, which is about the size and shape of a grain of rice, will be injected beneath the surface of their skin, between the shoulder blades, in a process similar to a vaccination.

The procedure causes minimal discomfort, takes only a few minutes and can be completed during any visit to our animal hospital.

We will register your dog or cat's microchip in the national pet recovery database, and you will complete the registration by adding your contact information and address. Just be sure to update your contact information if you move or change phone numbers.

HomeAgain Microchip

The HomeAgain microchip has a patented anti-migration feature that ensures the microchip will stay in place for easy locating and scanning.

If your dog or cat becomes lost and is taken to a veterinary office or shelter to get scanned, the scanner will read the microchip’s unique ID registration code and provide your pet's identity and your contact information. That way, efforts can be made to reunite you with your loved one.

We strongly recommend microchips for both indoor and outdoor pets. We love happy endings to stories of lost pets, so please consider microchipping your dog or cat today.
